Ten senior officers have been elevated to the position of Permanent Secretary in the Abia State Civil Service, following their swearing-in by Governor Alex Otti, who called for greater efficiency and responsible administration across government institutions.
The ceremony, held at the Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia on Monday, October 19, 2026, also featured the inauguration of three other appointees into different government positions.
Otti said the new Permanent Secretaries must recognise that their appointments place them in positions where their decisions and conduct would have direct consequences for the state and its citizens.
