Manchester United’s leadership is reportedly considering its options over Michael Carrick’s future as the club assesses its managerial situation following a disappointing run of results. The club’s board is said to have held discussions about the team’s direction and possible changes in the dugout.
The development comes after United suffered a 3–0 defeat to Bournemouth in their Premier League encounter on October 25, raising further questions about the team’s consistency and ability to compete at the highest level.
The four managers reportedly under consideration are Eddie Howe, Julian Nagelsmann, Unai Emery and Fabian Hürzeler. Howe and Nagelsmann are said to be among the leading options, while Emery and Hürzeler have also attracted interest within the club. However, Manchester United has not officially confirmed any appointment or replacement.
The uncertainty follows a difficult spell for United, whose run of poor results has increased pressure on Carrick and raised concerns about the club’s position in the league. Senior executives, including chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox, are involved in discussions about the team’s future.
Despite the mounting speculation, no final decision on Carrick’s position had been announced at the time of reporting. The outcome of the board’s deliberations could determine whether the former United midfielder receives more time to turn the season around or the club begins another managerial transition ahead of its next fixtures.
