Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has commenced her recovery following successful surgery to treat a fractured fibula sustained while representing Nigeria in the 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers. The development offers encouragement to Nigerian football fans as the forward begins the process of regaining full fitness.

Ajibade suffered the injury during Nigeria’s second-leg encounter against Comoros in the second round of the Olympic qualifying campaign. The match was played at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne, Ogun State, where the Nigerian international was forced off the pitch in the 28th minute.

Her injury required immediate medical attention, with Folashade Ijamilusi introduced as her replacement. Despite losing their captain early in the encounter, the Super Falcons continued their impressive performance and secured a convincing victory to advance in the qualifying competition.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward underwent surgery last week and has now started her rehabilitation programme. She previously expressed appreciation to her teammates, family, medical personnel and supporters for their prayers and encouragement following the setback.

Although neither Paris Saint-Germain nor the national team has announced an official date for her return, Ajibade will focus on rehabilitation before resuming competitive football. Her recovery remains important to both club and country as they look forward to having the experienced Nigerian forward back in action.
