Nigerian firms have secured business agreements worth $10 million with Indonesian companies, signalling fresh prospects for cooperation in manufacturing, healthcare supplies and consumer products.
The transactions were announced during the 41st Trade Expo Indonesia in BSD City, Tangerang, where companies from both countries explored opportunities to expand their commercial operations and reach new markets.
Indonesian Ambassador to Nigeria, Bambang Suharto, said the agreements consisted of two separate deals valued at $5 million each. He described the development as an important step towards deepening business relations between Nigeria and Indonesia.
Suharto also encouraged Indonesian companies to consider investing directly in Nigeria rather than concentrating solely on exporting goods. He said establishing production facilities in the country could support job creation and strengthen industrial development.
Among the companies involved was Nigeria’s Irad Investment Limited, which entered into an agreement with Indonesian firm PT Winn Appliance to supply household gas appliances to the Nigerian market.
The Managing Director of Irad Investment Limited, Michael Simon-Michael, said the partnership would help make the products available to Nigerian consumers through established distribution channels.
He explained that the company’s long-term ambition included setting up a manufacturing plant in Nigeria, a move that could also position it to supply customers in other African countries.
Executive Director of Invest Nigeria, Sheye Oyetade, linked the agreements to broader efforts to encourage trade and investment between member countries of the Developing Eight Organisation for Economic Cooperation.
He noted that Nigeria’s large consumer market presented opportunities for foreign investors, while stronger international partnerships could help local businesses expand their operations and improve access to overseas markets.
The business deals emerged from Trade Expo Indonesia, an international exhibition designed to connect exporters with prospective buyers and investors. The 2026 edition, held from October 14 to 18, provided a platform for participating companies to explore commercial partnerships and identify new areas of economic cooperation.
