Nigerian footballers are enjoying productive spells with their respective clubs across Europe, with several attackers delivering impressive numbers in front of goal as the season progresses.
At the forefront is Kelechi Iheanacho, whose outstanding form has made him one of the most effective strikers in the Turkish second division. The forward has scored 16 times and provided three assists in 12 outings for Bursaspor, establishing himself as a key figure in the club’s promotion campaign.
His latest contribution came during Bursaspor’s 4-2 triumph over Keçiörengücü on October 25. The victory took the team to 28 points and first place in the standings, while Iheanacho continued a remarkable run of scoring in all 12 appearances.
Victor Osimhen has also demonstrated his value at Galatasaray, producing nine goals and three assists in nine matches. The Nigerian international returned from an injury absence to score twice against Fenerbahçe in a 2-1 derby win. He had previously found the net in Galatasaray’s Champions League encounter against Lille.
Tolu Arokodare is another Nigerian attracting attention following his performances at Ajax. With nine goals and three assists in 14 appearances, the striker has become an important attacking option. He also celebrated reaching 100 career goals before helping Ajax defeat Sparta Rotterdam 2-1.
Cyriel Dessers has maintained a strong scoring record at Panathinaikos, where he has found the net nine times in 14 games. His recent goal against Volos secured a narrow victory for his team and extended his personal scoring sequence to four consecutive matches.
Gift Orban has contributed eight goals and four assists for Amedspor since joining the Turkish side on loan from Hoffenheim. His attacking output has helped the club remain competitive in the league.
Rafiu Durosinmi has also made progress at Genk, scoring seven goals after moving from Italian outfit Pisa. The forward is targeting a 20-goal return this season as he looks to improve his standing in European football.
Akor Adams and Abraham Marcus have each registered four goals for Venezia and Estrela Amadora respectively, adding to the list of Nigerians making valuable contributions outside their home country.
The performances underline the growing presence of Nigerian attackers in European football, with their goal returns providing a positive outlook for the country’s talent pool ahead of future international competitions.
