Enugu State is intensifying efforts to promote itself as a leading destination for tourism and entertainment ahead of the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, with Governor Peter Mbah’s administration highlighting the state’s growing appeal to visitors and industry stakeholders.
The awards are expected to attract filmmakers, actors, producers and other prominent personalities from across Nigeria. The event presents an opportunity for Enugu to showcase its hospitality, cultural heritage and entertainment infrastructure to a wider national audience.
The state government is also seeking to use the occasion to stimulate economic activity by attracting visitors who will patronise hotels, restaurants, transport operators, event centres and other local businesses. Increased visitor traffic could create opportunities for entrepreneurs and workers across the hospitality and service sectors.
Enugu has a long-standing connection with Nigeria’s film industry and is widely associated with Nollywood’s early development. The government’s renewed tourism push is aimed at building on that heritage while promoting the state as a destination for conferences, cultural events, leisure and investment.
As preparations for the BON Awards continue, attention will focus on the state’s readiness to host guests and convert the event’s visibility into lasting benefits. The success of the initiative will depend on effective organisation, visitor experience and sustained investment in tourism facilities beyond the awards ceremony.
