Emeka Nwokolo is looking to get back into the ring with Jonathan Wilson Sanchez after their recent encounter ended in a result the Nigerian-American boxer considers controversial.
The two fighters met in a 10-round super welterweight contest at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California, on October 10. The bout proved a disappointing outing for Nwokolo, who had entered the fight seeking to maintain his championship run.
Rather than allow the setback to derail his ambitions, Nwokolo is pushing for another opportunity to face the Argentine. A second meeting would give both boxers the chance to settle their rivalry in the ring.
Nwokolo had previously returned from a lengthy injury layoff with an impressive third-round technical knockout victory over Darren Hamilton in June. That performance had raised expectations ahead of his meeting with Sanchez.
The boxer, who is the son of former Nigerian boxing star Charles Nwokolo, has competed for several titles during his professional career. A rematch could prove important to his efforts to rebuild momentum and remain competitive in the super welterweight category.
