The Nigerian golfing community will gather in Asaba, Delta State, on November 7, 2026, to celebrate veteran golfer Rita Izoje as she marks her retirement after decades of service in sports and public administration.
The event, scheduled for the Ibori Golf and Country Club, is expected to attract about 80 golfers who will participate in the championship organised in her honour.
Izoje, who has spent 35 years in the civil service, is also celebrating her 60th birthday. Her retirement celebration recognises her longstanding involvement in golf and her contributions to the development of the sport in Delta State.
Her career includes representing Nigeria at the 2018 All Africa Challenge Trophy in Ghana, where she competed as part of the country’s team. She is also recognised for her work with the Delta State Sports Commission.
The championship will provide an opportunity for colleagues, fellow golfers and admirers to celebrate Izoje’s achievements and reflect on her impact on the golfing community as she begins a new chapter following her retirement from public service.
