The Federal Government has received 180 Nigerians returning from Libya as part of ongoing efforts to assist citizens stranded abroad and facilitate their safe reintegration into the country.
The returnees arrived at the Cargo Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at approximately 7 p.m. on November 11, 2025, aboard an Air Libya aircraft.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), through its Lagos Operations Office, coordinated the reception exercise alongside the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and other relevant government agencies.
The group comprised 147 adults, including 45 men and 102 women, as well as 19 children and 14 infants. Officials also identified 46 individuals with medical conditions who received immediate attention from health personnel upon arrival.
To facilitate their return, officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service carried out biometric registration and documentation to establish the identities of the returnees and support subsequent reintegration arrangements.
The returning Nigerians were provided with essential assistance, including food, drinking water, medical services, ambulance support, counselling and logistical arrangements to address their immediate needs.
The exercise highlights the collaboration between Nigerian authorities and international partners in helping vulnerable citizens return home safely, particularly those facing difficult circumstances in foreign countries.
