The convoy of the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Y. Suleiman, has been involved in a road accident while returning to Bauchi, the state capital. Fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident, while the Speaker was confirmed to be safe.
The accident reportedly occurred on Monday night as the convoy returned from the campaign flag-off of Ibrahim Tanko Burra, a lawmaker representing Burra Constituency. Two vehicles in the convoy reportedly veered off the road during the journey.
The Speaker’s media aide, Mukhtar Garba Kobi, confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday, explaining that the Speaker’s own vehicle was not among those involved. He added that the affected occupants received medical attention following the accident.
Kobi expressed appreciation to individuals who assisted the victims immediately after the incident. He also thanked residents of Burra, Ningi and other parts of Bauchi State for their concern, prayers and support following news of the crash.
Despite the incident, the Speaker reaffirmed his commitment to his legislative duties and urged supporters to remain calm and law-abiding. He also prayed for the recovery of those affected and called for continued caution on the roads to help prevent similar accidents.
