A Lagos-based wellness initiative has attracted thousands of Nigerians, with 11,896 people turning up for the 10th edition of WalkHeartOn, a programme designed to encourage physical fitness and raise awareness about heart health.
The event, organised by Power Oil on October 1, 2026, recorded 25,536 registrations, according to the organisers. It was held at The Stables Sports Ground in Surulere, Lagos, as part of activities marking World Heart Day.
Over the years, WalkHeartOn has developed into an annual platform for promoting preventive healthcare and encouraging Nigerians to incorporate physical exercise into their daily routines. Its latest edition combined the health awareness campaign with recreational activities to attract participants from different backgrounds.
Attendees participated in workout sessions and health screenings, alongside games, music, refreshments and other entertainment. The organisers said the combination of wellness activities and social engagement was intended to make conversations about healthy living more accessible and enjoyable.
Roland Akpe, Marketing Manager for the Oils and Fats Portfolio at Tolaram, said the initiative reflects Power Oil’s commitment to encouraging Nigerians to make heart health a priority. He stressed that maintaining a healthy heart requires more than proper nutrition, highlighting the importance of regular physical activity and healthier everyday habits. The 10th anniversary marks a decade of efforts to inspire Nigerians to adopt more active lifestyles.
