Every second brings Nigerians closer to exercising their democratic right and shaping the future of our nation.
Exercise your democratic right responsibly, peacefully and lawfully.
The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies has urged public officials and other leaders to make the welfare and progress of Nigeria their foremost responsibility.
The call was made by the Director-General of NIPSS, Prof. Ayo Omotayo, who stressed the importance of integrity, responsible leadership and commitment to the country among those entrusted with public responsibilities.
Omotayo said national development would be difficult to achieve if public officers allowed personal, political or sectional interests to take precedence over the collective good.
He encouraged senior officials and security personnel to approach their duties with a strong sense of patriotism, accountability and professionalism, noting that the decisions taken by those in positions of authority have significant consequences for the wider society.
The NIPSS chief also emphasised the need for leaders to uphold values capable of strengthening public institutions and promoting unity, good governance and sustainable development.
He maintained that leadership positions should be viewed as opportunities to serve the nation rather than avenues for advancing individual interests.
