Tensions have escalated in the occupied West Bank after a Palestinian farmer was injured in an alleged attack by Israeli settlers, while Israeli forces detained five Palestinians in separate incidents in the Hebron Governorate.
According to reports by the Palestinian news agency WAFA, the farmer was assaulted in Khirbet al-Fakhit, within the Masafer Yatta area south of Hebron. He sustained facial injuries and was taken to hospital for medical treatment.
In a separate incident, Israeli forces reportedly arrested another Palestinian following an assault by settlers. Four brothers were also detained in the town of al-Shuyukh, north of Hebron, while harvesting olives.
The incidents come amid recurring tensions affecting Palestinian farming communities, particularly during the annual olive harvest. Residents in parts of the West Bank have reported attacks and restrictions that make it difficult to access agricultural land and gather their crops.
The Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission said it had recorded 482 attacks by Israeli settlers targeting the olive harvest since the season began. The latest incidents have added to concerns over the safety of Palestinian farmers and their access to farmland across the occupied territory.
