Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed confidence in the country’s future under President Bola Tinubu, insisting that the administration’s achievements should not be overlooked as political activities build ahead of the 2027 general election.

She spoke on Friday at the opening of the Abuja headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a political group established to mobilise support for the President.

During the gathering, Mrs Tinubu urged Nigerians to pay attention to developments across the country rather than dismissing the government’s performance. She referenced improvements at airports and expressed hope that other aspects of public infrastructure would continue to improve.

The First Lady also spoke about her expectations for Nigeria beyond her husband’s tenure, saying she looked forward to leaving the Presidential Villa in 2031 to experience a better country.

Taking a humorous approach to those who disagree with her assessment, she introduced the expression “Jigi Bola,” suggesting that critics needed a different pair of glasses to appreciate the changes she believes are taking place.

The event also highlighted efforts by the support group to expand its political activities and strengthen its presence ahead of the next presidential election.

President Tinubu’s administration has continued to face scrutiny over its economic reforms and their effects on households, with Nigerians expressing differing views about the direction of the country.

Mrs Tinubu’s intervention adds to the growing political debate over the President’s performance and the prospects of his party retaining power in 2027.
