A road crash along Ossah Road in Umuahia, Abia State, has claimed one life and left several other people injured after a tipper truck collided with a passenger bus.
The accident reportedly occurred around a sharp bend on the road when the truck, which was transporting sand, collided with a Toyota Sienna bus. The force of the impact caused significant damage to the vehicles involved.
The conductor of the tipper truck was reportedly thrown from the vehicle during the collision and died from injuries sustained in the crash. Several passengers were also injured and required medical attention.
Rescue personnel from the Federal Road Safety Corps responded to the scene and evacuated the injured victims to a medical facility for treatment. The damaged vehicles were also attended to as efforts were made to clear the area and restore normal traffic flow.
The FRSC has urged motorists travelling along the route to exercise caution, particularly around bends and other accident-prone areas. Drivers were also reminded to observe speed limits and other road safety regulations to help prevent further loss of lives.
