The Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate in Abia State has pledged to establish an industrial hub and provide interest-free loans to artisans in Aba if elected governor in 2027.
The proposed initiatives are aimed at supporting small businesses, improving access to finance and strengthening Aba’s reputation as a major centre for manufacturing, trading and locally produced goods.
Under the plan, artisans are expected to benefit from improved business support and access to funding to expand their operations, acquire equipment and increase production. The proposed industrial hub is also intended to create an enabling environment for entrepreneurs and encourage more economic activities.
The promises come as unemployment, rising operating costs and limited access to affordable credit remain major concerns for many small-scale business owners. For Aba’s artisans, the proposed measures could offer opportunities for growth if supported by clear implementation plans and transparent financing arrangements.
With the 2027 governorship election approaching, the candidate’s proposals add to the debate over how political parties intend to stimulate Abia’s economy and create jobs. Voters will be watching to see how the promises are translated into practical policies capable of delivering measurable benefits to artisans and other residents.
