The Nigerian Democratic Congress senatorial candidate for Ebonyi South, Linus Okorie, has formally launched his campaign for the 2027 election, unveiling an agenda focused on legislative representation and community development. He also pledged to mobilise support for the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in Ebonyi State.
Okorie said his proposed constituency office would provide a direct channel for residents to submit complaints, suggest community projects, access information on government opportunities and report abandoned projects. He said representation should involve continuous engagement with constituents rather than only appearing during election periods.
The former House of Representatives member outlined priorities covering healthcare, education, employment, agriculture, business support, infrastructure and assistance for vulnerable residents. He also identified water and electricity as key areas requiring federal intervention across parts of Ebonyi South.
On legislative responsibilities, Okorie cautioned against making promises that fall outside the powers of a senator. He said his approach would focus on lawmaking, oversight, appropriation, advocacy and pursuing federal institutions to deliver projects and programmes to the constituency.
The campaign launch comes as political activity increases ahead of the 2027 elections. Okorie also urged citizens, particularly young people, to participate peacefully in the electoral process and hold elected representatives accountable for their commitments.
