The Abia State Government has announced significant progress on the pedestrian bridge under construction along Eziama Ring Road in Aba, with the project approaching completion.

Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, disclosed this on Monday, October 12, 2026, while addressing journalists at Government House, Umuahia, following the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.

According to Kanu, the project has reached an advanced stage and is expected to provide pedestrians with a designated route for crossing the busy road once construction is completed.

The bridge is designed to minimise the dangers faced by residents who cross the road amid heavy vehicular movement, while promoting safer movement for pedestrians and improving traffic order in the area.

The project forms part of the state government’s infrastructure interventions aimed at tackling everyday challenges faced by residents. Its completion is expected to strengthen pedestrian safety and provide a more convenient crossing option for people who use the Eziama Ring Road corridor.
