The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a tiler, Samuel Net, following the death of a hotel employee, Joseph Terdoo, after an alleged physical confrontation at a hotel in Utako, Abuja.

The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, October 20, 2026, when police received a distress report at about 5am concerning suspicious noise and activities on the third floor of the hotel.

Officers from the Utako Divisional Police Headquarters were immediately dispatched to the premises. On arrival, they found Net, who had been engaged by the hotel to carry out tiling work, with visible marks of violence on his body. Terdoo, a member of the hotel staff, was also discovered unconscious with multiple injuries.

Terdoo was rushed to Wuse District Hospital for medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival by medical personnel.

Preliminary police investigations indicated that the two men had been involved in a disagreement that escalated into a physical altercation. During the confrontation, Net allegedly pushed Terdoo, causing him to fall and strike his head against a wooden object before collapsing.

The police have commenced a discreet investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and determine the appropriate legal action.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, urged residents to avoid violence and refrain from taking the law into their own hands when disagreements arise.

He encouraged members of the public to embrace peaceful dialogue and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
