Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has called on Ndigbo to embrace technology and digital commerce, saying the future of global business lies in manufacturing and digital delivery.
Governor Otti stated this on Monday, September 28, at the Igbo Day Lecture and Dinner organised by Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia, with the theme, “The Igbo Charter and Development of Ala Igbo.”
The Governor said his administration was moving Abia from conventional trading to manufacturing and technology-driven commerce.
He noted that the state was investing in digital skills through the TechRise initiative, adding that some young Abians trained under the programme were already working for global technology companies, including Google and Amazon, from Aba.
Governor Otti urged Ndigbo to adapt to changing business trends to remain competitive globally.
In his keynote address, Professor Kingsley Moghalu called for a non-partisan Igbo development charter focused on merit, accountability, security, digital commerce and investment.
The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator John Azuta-Mbata, said the charter provides a framework for harnessing the collective strength of Ndigbo for sustainable development.
The event was attended by Abia State Deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu, members of the National Assembly, traditional rulers and other prominent Igbo leaders.
