The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kebbi State has reinstated its State Chairman, Abubakar Muhammad Kana-Zuru, approximately three months after he was suspended from the position.
The decision was announced by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Isah Abubakar Assalafi, following a meeting of the State Working Committee in Birnin Kebbi. The committee reviewed the circumstances surrounding the earlier suspension before deciding to withdraw it with immediate effect.
Kana-Zuru was suspended in June through a resolution of the State Working Committee. His reinstatement now restores him to the full powers, duties and responsibilities of the APC State Chairman in Kebbi.
The development also ends the interim leadership arrangement under which Adamu Mudi Augie, the Deputy State Chairman, had been performing the functions of acting chairman. Augie has been directed to return to his substantive position as Deputy State Chairman.
The party has ordered the transfer of official documents and other records relating to the chairman’s office to Kana-Zuru and directed the State Secretary to communicate the latest resolution to the APC national headquarters. The party says the decision takes immediate effect.
