Nigeria’s preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers have received a boost with the arrival of goalkeeper Maduka Okoye in the Super Eagles camp.
Okoye reported for international duty in Uyo on Friday, joining the rest of the squad ahead of Nigeria’s meeting with Madagascar.
The Udinese goalkeeper was not present when the team began its initial training sessions, having remained in Italy for commitments involving his club.
His arrival means head coach Éric Chelle now has all three goalkeepers selected for the fixture available for training and selection. Stanley Nwabali and Arthur Okonkwo are the other goalkeeping options in camp.
The Super Eagles are set to face Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo as they begin their campaign in the AFCON 2027 qualifying series.
