Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has attributed his approach to governance to his Christian faith, declaring that his administration will not knowingly take decisions that conflict with what he believes God approves.

Otti made the statement on Sunday, October 18, 2026, during a church service organised by The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries at its headquarters in Ijesha, Lagos State.

Addressing worshippers, the governor explained that his entry into politics was driven by his conviction that leadership is a responsibility entrusted by God. He maintained that political power should not be treated as a personal possession but as a trust that demands accountability.

The governor also spoke about his religious background, disclosing that his late father, Pastor Lazarus Otti, was a minister of God. He referenced Psalm 62:11 to reinforce his position that divine authority remains central to his understanding of leadership.

According to Otti, his religious convictions would continue to influence the decisions he makes in office. He insisted that his administration would reject any action considered wrong, adding that he would not proceed with anything he believed lacked God’s approval.

The governor further disclosed that his appearance at the service was connected to a commitment he made to the church’s General Overseer, Pastor Lazarus Muoka, during an earlier visit by the cleric to Abia State.

Turning to developments in the state, Otti expressed satisfaction with the changes recorded since his administration began in May 2023. He recalled the difficulties that once affected Abia’s public image, noting that some people had previously been uncomfortable identifying with the state. He urged those unfamiliar with recent developments to visit and see the situation for themselves.

The governor’s remarks followed a similar declaration at the Unity Chapel, Government House, Umuahia, on Saturday, where he described his relationship with God as fundamental to his administration. He also ruled out seeking the assistance of the legislature, judiciary or other institutions to facilitate any wrongdoing.

Otti maintained that public officials who conduct themselves honestly can defend their decisions confidently and enjoy peace of mind. He thanked Muoka and the congregation for receiving him, while the cleric prayed for God’s wisdom, protection and strength for the governor as he continues to lead Abia State.
