Chief Ebuka Onunkwo’s campaign for the Anambra South Senatorial seat has received a boost following a declaration of support by the Uga Community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The community’s position emerged at a stakeholders’ gathering convened by Chief Tony Nnajiofor, also known as Amalubia Uwa N’Uga, where local leaders discussed their expectations for the district’s representation in the 2027 general elections.
At the meeting, participants emphasised the need for a senator who would champion policies capable of improving livelihoods, opening up economic opportunities and addressing the concerns of constituents. They identified employment generation and development as key priorities for the next representative of Anambra South.
The gathering also provided an opportunity for community representatives to communicate their expectations to Onunkwo, who is seeking election on the platform of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Responding to the endorsement, Onunkwo expressed appreciation for the community’s support and said he regarded it as a call to serve with accountability. He pledged to place the interests of the people at the centre of his legislative agenda and work towards advancing the development of the senatorial district.
He further assured the stakeholders that their confidence would inspire him to pursue a representation driven by integrity, economic progress and the needs of the people.
The endorsement comes as political consultations and engagements continue across Anambra State, with aspirants seeking to strengthen their support bases ahead of the 2027 elections.
