Manchester United’s famous Old Trafford stadium took on a different role on Saturday as Nigerian pastor Jerry Eze led thousands of worshippers during the 2026 NSPPD UK Prayer Conference.

The gathering, organised by Streams of Joy International, brought Christians from across the United Kingdom and other countries together for several hours of prayer, worship and fellowship. The event was free to attend, although participants were required to register because of limited spaces.

Old Trafford, which has a capacity of about 74,000, was filled with worshippers instead of football fans as the stadium hosted the large-scale religious gathering. Reports said demand for attendance was high, with available registration spaces reportedly filling up before the event.

Eze was joined by Nigerian gospel artistes and ministers including Mercy Chinwo, Dunsin Oyekan, Sunmisola Agbebi and Kaestrings, who took part in the worship and musical sessions.

The event has drawn attention to the growing international reach of Nigerian-led Christian gatherings, with a venue globally associated with football temporarily becoming a setting for collective prayer, praise and worship.
