Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has ordered the immediate dissolution of several boards, commissions and parastatals across the state, alongside the termination of appointments of political aides serving in his administration.
The affected officials include Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants and Technical Assistants. The state government said the decision is connected to the winding down of the governor’s first term, ahead of his second-term inauguration scheduled for October 16, 2026.
However, the shake-up does not cover a number of statutory institutions. The State Independent Electoral Commission, Civil Service Commission, House of Assembly Service Commission and Judicial Service Commission will retain their chairmen and members. Governing councils of state-owned tertiary institutions will also remain in place.
The chairmen of SUBEB, the Local Government Service Commission and the Teaching Service Commission are also expected to continue in their positions, although the boards under the agencies have been dissolved. Directors-General and Technical Advisers to the governor are equally excluded from the termination.
Governor Oyebanji thanked the affected appointees for their contributions to his administration and service to Ekiti State, while wishing them success in their future endeavours.
