Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has urged residents to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, arguing that continued cooperation between the state and the Federal Government is important for major infrastructure and environmental projects.
Soludo made the remarks while addressing supporters, where he criticised those advocating votes for opposition candidates despite believing they might not win the presidential election. He warned that rejecting Tinubu could have consequences for Anambra’s development, particularly its ability to secure federal assistance for projects requiring substantial funding.
The governor highlighted the state’s persistent erosion challenges, saying the scale of the problem was beyond the financial capacity of the Anambra State Government alone. He argued that federal intervention would be necessary to address the environmental threat and protect affected communities.
Soludo also referred to proposed road infrastructure projects, including a planned dual-carriageway route linking communities in the South-East. He said the project was at the design stage and maintained that cooperation with the Federal Government would be important for moving such initiatives forward. He also mentioned a proposed route connecting Anambra East towards Abaji.
Although Soludo belongs to the All Progressives Grand Alliance, he has publicly expressed support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 polls. His comments have added to the political debate over whether voters should prioritise party affiliation or cooperation with the Federal Government when making their electoral choices. Ultimately, the decision rests with voters, while the proposed projects will depend on government planning, approvals and implementation.
