Persistent rainfall has caused significant flooding in parts of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, with several roads and residential areas affected after about three days of continuous downpour.
Areas reportedly impacted include New GRA, Eneka, Elimgbu, Odili Road, SARS Road, Rupokwu and parts of the Eliozu–G.U. Ake Road. In some locations, floodwater has spread across major routes, making movement difficult for motorists and pedestrians.
The Eneka axis is among the areas facing serious flooding, with water reportedly entering some residential buildings. Residents in affected communities have raised concerns over damage to property and the disruption of normal activities.
The prolonged rainfall has also renewed concerns about drainage capacity and the vulnerability of low-lying communities to flash floods. Residents are being urged to avoid walking or driving through fast-moving floodwater and to move to safer locations where necessary.
Authorities and relevant emergency agencies are expected to monitor the situation as further rainfall could increase water levels in vulnerable parts of the city. Residents have also been encouraged to remain alert and report emergencies promptly.
