Every second brings Nigerians closer to exercising their democratic right and shaping the future of our nation.
Exercise your democratic right responsibly, peacefully and lawfully.
Kayode Fayemi, Former Ekiti State Governor, has cautioned Christian churches against turning their platforms into political structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Fayemi stressed that while religious institutions and their members have every right to participate in the democratic process, churches should be careful not to become instruments for advancing political interests.
He made the remarks while discussing the role of faith-based institutions in Nigeria’s political development, emphasising the need for churches to maintain their moral and spiritual responsibilities.
According to him, the church should contribute to national conversations and encourage responsible citizenship without allowing partisan politics to overshadow its primary mission.
Fayemi’s comments come as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections continue to gather momentum, with religious and other influential institutions expected to play a significant role in shaping public discourse.
