Indian security agencies have reportedly uncovered a major international drug trafficking operation following the interception of a vessel carrying narcotics estimated at more than 330 million dollars.
The operation, carried out by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad in collaboration with the Indian Coast Guard, led to the seizure of about 526 kilogrammes of suspected narcotics in the Arabian Sea. The consignment reportedly included methamphetamine and heroin.
Authorities have linked a Nigerian national to the alleged trafficking network, claiming he acted as an intermediary between suspected members of the operation. Investigators reportedly began tracking the network after receiving intelligence about a planned meeting involving the Nigerian and another suspect in Gujarat.
Five Pakistani nationals found aboard the intercepted vessel were also arrested. Investigators allege that the drugs were intended to be transferred to another boat in Indian waters before being transported through Tamil Nadu and distributed to other parts of the country.
The investigation is continuing, with Indian authorities working to establish the full structure of the alleged network and identify other people connected to the operation. The allegations against those arrested or linked to the case remain subject to the ongoing investigation and legal process.
