The Bauchi State chapter of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore has announced plans to withdraw its support for political candidates across party lines until its national leader, Bello Bodejo, is released from detention.
The association said the decision was driven by its dissatisfaction with the handling of Bodejo’s case. Its state chairman, Sale Garbu, appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene and facilitate a resolution of the matter.
Garbu also called on Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed to use his position to assist the group in securing the leader’s freedom. He urged the authorities to address the concerns surrounding Bodejo’s detention through appropriate legal channels.
The association further appealed to traditional rulers nationwide to engage the government on the issue. Its state secretary, Sulaiman Shehu, said influential traditional institutions could help encourage dialogue and promote a peaceful outcome.
The group maintained that resolving the matter would help address its grievances, while urging political leaders and other stakeholders to pay attention to its demands.
