Netflix is set to bring the 2030 FIFA World Cup to football fans in Spain and Andorra after securing the rights to broadcast the competition in the two territories.
Under the arrangement, viewers will be able to follow every match of the tournament live through the streaming service. The coverage will extend beyond the games to include football discussions, match previews, expert analysis and programmes reviewing key moments throughout the competition.
The deal introduces a new dimension to football broadcasting in the two countries, with Netflix strengthening its position in the live sports market. However, arrangements have been made to ensure that fans can still watch selected matches on free-to-air television in Spain, including games involving the Spanish national team and the tournament’s decisive fixtures.
The 2030 World Cup will be a landmark edition of football’s biggest international competition, celebrating a century since the inaugural tournament in Uruguay. Spain, Portugal and Morocco will host the main event, while Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay will organise special matches to commemorate the competition’s historic beginnings.
Netflix’s latest move reflects the growing competition among broadcasters and digital platforms for premium sporting content. The company is also preparing to broadcast the 2027 and 2031 FIFA Women’s World Cups in the United States and Canada, further expanding its involvement in international football.
