President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has challenged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council to demonstrate their political strength at the grassroots, warning that party leaders will be judged by their ability to deliver results in their respective wards ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The President reportedly made the position clear while addressing the party’s campaign leadership, stressing that holding a political appointment or occupying a prominent position within the party would not automatically guarantee recognition. According to the message, every member must prove their value through effective mobilisation and measurable electoral support.
Tinubu emphasised the importance of strengthening the APC’s presence across communities, noting that ward-level organisation remains essential to securing victory at the polls. He urged campaign officials to engage voters directly, understand their concerns and communicate the administration’s policies and achievements more effectively.
The directive also places pressure on party coordinators to improve their mobilisation strategies and build stronger relationships with supporters before the election season intensifies. Political observers say the emphasis on grassroots performance reflects the importance of local networks, voter engagement and coordinated campaigning in Nigeria’s electoral process.
As preparations for 2027 continue, the President’s message signals a demand for greater accountability within the ruling party’s campaign structure. APC leaders and supporters will be expected to translate their positions into concrete political results as the party works to strengthen its chances at the forthcoming polls.
