The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has charged a newly inaugurated All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign team with documenting infrastructure projects executed under President Bola Tinubu’s administration as the ruling party prepares for the 2027 elections.
The team, established under the Infrastructure, Mobilisation and Sensitisation Directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, is expected to coordinate information on government projects and communicate their progress to the public.
At the inauguration in Abuja, Umahi emphasised the need for members to adopt a broad approach that captures infrastructure investments across different sectors and government institutions.
He said the exercise should not be restricted to road construction projects under his ministry but should also include developments being undertaken by other federal agencies and relevant authorities.
The minister explained that effective coordination among members would help provide a comprehensive record of infrastructure projects across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
He urged the coordinators to ensure that information gathered from their respective areas was properly verified and presented in a manner that would enable Nigerians to understand the scope of ongoing government investments.
Umahi also pointed to the administration’s road construction strategy, particularly the use of concrete pavement technology, as part of efforts to improve road durability and encourage the use of locally available resources.
He maintained that infrastructure development remained important to economic growth, stressing that improved road networks and public facilities could enhance transportation, support businesses and strengthen connections between communities.
The inauguration comes as the APC intensifies preparations for the 2027 general election. The newly constituted team is expected to play a role in presenting the administration’s infrastructure record as the party seeks to communicate its achievements to voters across the country.
