Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have recorded a major counter-terrorism operation in Adamawa State, with 16 terrorists reportedly killed during an ambush in the Boima area of Gombi Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out between September 30 and October 1, involved coordinated ground and air actions. Military authorities said troops also recovered several weapons and ammunition from the area following the engagement.
An air operation was also conducted after surveillance reportedly detected a group of terrorists gathered with motorcycles in the area. The military said the subsequent strike hit the identified target, while surviving members of the group fled.
Meanwhile, terrorists launched attacks on military positions in Garkida and Garaha. The attacks were repelled by troops, although three soldiers were killed during the fighting, while wounded personnel were evacuated for medical treatment.
The military says follow-up operations are continuing across the affected areas as security forces intensify efforts to prevent further attacks and restrict the movement of terrorist groups in the region.
