Nigeria’s Falconets have advanced to the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland after producing a commanding 10-1 win over New Caledonia in their final Group F fixture.
The victory came after Nigeria managed just one point from their opening two matches. The emphatic result lifted the team to second place in Group F with four points and gave them a significant boost in goal difference.
Ramotalahi Kareem and Onajite David were the standout performers, with both players scoring hat-tricks. Rebecca Adegbemile also found the net twice, while Janet Akekoromowei and Tosin Rafiu completed Nigeria’s scoring. New Caledonia scored a consolation goal during the second half.
Kareem, who was named Player of the Match, said the team is prepared for the challenge ahead and will work hard to deliver against England.
The Falconets will now face Group E winners England in the Round of 16 on Thursday, with Nigeria hoping to continue their impressive run in the tournament.
