The Federal Government has launched a nationwide Skills-to-Jobs programme aimed at training 300,000 young Nigerians and connecting them with employment opportunities in the digital and creative economy. The initiative is being implemented under the Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises programme, known as iDICE.
The programme will cover all six geopolitical zones, with 50,000 training opportunities allocated to each zone. Organisers are targeting at least 80 per cent job placement for beneficiaries after training, potentially linking about 240,000 participants to employment opportunities.
Nigerians between the ages of 15 and 35 are eligible to participate. Training will be offered at basic, intermediate and advanced levels, combining online and physical learning, with a focus on digital, creative and workplace skills relevant to Nigeria’s growing outsourcing and technology sectors.
The initiative also provides for broader inclusion, with at least 40 per cent of the available places reserved for women. Persons living with disabilities and young Nigerians who are not currently in employment, education or training are also among those targeted by the programme.
The Skills-to-Jobs initiative forms part of the wider 617.7 million dollar iDICE programme, supported by international development institutions and implemented with the Bank of Industry. Applications are open to eligible Nigerians resident in the country, as the government seeks to build a larger pool of job-ready talent for the digital and creative economy.
