The APC governorship hopeful in Imo State, Success Akagburuonye, has announced a major medical equipment donation valued at 7.8 million dollars to support healthcare facilities across the state’s 27 Local Government Areas.
Akagburuonye disclosed the initiative in Lagos while addressing members of the Imo State Towns Development Association. He said the equipment was provided to him by the Canadian government as part of humanitarian support aimed at improving healthcare delivery in Imo State.
According to him, the first consignment has already arrived from Canada and is ready for transportation to Imo. The shipment reportedly includes three ECG machines, with additional consignments expected to follow.
He said the equipment would be channelled to existing health facilities across the 27 LGAs, with the aim of upgrading their capacity and making better medical services available closer to residents. He also indicated that healthcare professionals from the different local government areas would be involved in the distribution process.
The announcement comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 governorship election continue across Imo State. Akagburuonye said the medical intervention forms part of his broader humanitarian efforts through the Hope Rising for Imolites Foundation, which he says is focused on improving the welfare of residents.
