The Lagos State Building Control Agency has urged stakeholders in the construction sector to improve coordination and ensure that technical responsibilities are handled by the appropriate professionals.
The agency said clear separation of duties among architects, engineers, surveyors, town planners and other practitioners is essential to maintaining standards throughout the building process.
LASBCA General Manager, Florence Gbaye, raised the concern during a gathering of built-environment professionals organised by the Building Collapse Prevention Guild in Lagos.
She noted that construction projects require contributions from different specialists and warned against situations where professionals move beyond their areas of expertise.
According to her, stronger collaboration and adherence to professional responsibilities would help reduce avoidable errors and contribute to safer buildings across Lagos.
The stakeholders’ meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss measures for improving construction practices and strengthening efforts to prevent building failures in the state.
