The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps has encouraged corps members across Nigeria to embrace entrepreneurship and develop business ideas that can provide sustainable sources of income. The appeal comes amid growing concerns over unemployment and the need for young graduates to explore opportunities beyond traditional salaried jobs.

The NYSC chief stressed the importance of acquiring practical skills that can help young people become economically independent after completing their mandatory national service. He urged corps members to take advantage of available training programmes and business development initiatives to prepare themselves for the challenges of the labour market.

He also highlighted entrepreneurship as a pathway through which graduates can create employment opportunities for themselves and others. According to the message, young people who identify problems within their communities and develop innovative solutions can contribute to economic growth while building successful businesses.

The call further underscores the importance of vocational training, financial discipline and access to business support in helping young entrepreneurs turn ideas into viable enterprises. Collaboration among government agencies, financial institutions and the private sector could also improve access to funding, mentorship and essential business resources.

The NYSC leadership urged corps members to approach their service year as an opportunity to build valuable networks, acquire new competencies and plan for life after service. The initiative aims to encourage a more self-reliant generation of graduates capable of contributing to national development through innovation, enterprise and job creation.
