Nigeria’s newly appointed Ambassador to France, Ayodele Oke, has outlined plans to deepen cooperation between Abuja and Paris, with security, investment and trade identified as key areas of focus.
Oke assumed office after formally presenting his Letters of Credence to French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris on October 5, making him Nigeria’s 17th ambassador to France.
The ambassador said his diplomatic assignment would be centred on advancing Nigeria’s interests while strengthening existing ties with France. He also stressed the importance of ensuring that the country’s image and reputation are effectively represented internationally.
According to him, greater collaboration in security and economic matters would be pursued, alongside efforts to attract investment and expand commercial opportunities between both countries.
Oke further said he would work to ensure that Nigeria’s interests receive stronger representation in international discussions, while seeking better opportunities for Nigerians and protecting the interests of citizens abroad.
