Spain have continued their impressive run in the UEFA Nations League with a 3-1 victory over the Czech Republic in Oviedo, recording their third straight win in Group A3. The result keeps the defending champions at the top of the group with a maximum nine points.
Lamine Yamal once again made the difference early in the contest, breaking the deadlock in the sixth minute. The teenage Barcelona winger created space on the right side before curling a superb effort into the far corner, continuing his remarkable scoring form for the national team.
Spain doubled their advantage before half-time when captain Rodri reacted quickly to a loose ball inside the penalty area and fired into the top corner. The goal gave Spain control of the match, although the Czech Republic returned from the break with greater attacking intent.
The visitors eventually reduced the deficit through Jiri Slama, who finished from inside the box with just over 20 minutes remaining. Their hopes of completing a comeback were later weakened when captain Ladislav Krejci was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.
Spain then settled the contest late on as substitute Mikel Merino found the net to make it 3-1. The victory also extended Spain’s unbeaten run to 41 matches, while the team continues to set the pace in its Nations League group.
