Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze has suffered a hip injury that could keep him out of action for several weeks, handing AC Milan another setback ahead of their UEFA Europa League encounter with Bournemouth.
The 27-year-old was absent from Milan’s final training session on Wednesday after reportedly experiencing discomfort in his left hip following the club’s recent Serie A match against Atalanta.
According to reports from Italy, Chukwueze is expected to undergo a specialist medical examination to establish the severity of the injury and determine the length of his recovery period. Although the exact duration of his absence remains uncertain, initial reports suggest the problem could sideline him for weeks or potentially longer.
The development raises concerns for Milan manager Ruben Amorim, who has relied on the Nigerian international as part of his attacking options this season. Chukwueze has registered two assists in eight appearances across all competitions since returning from his loan spell at Fulham.
His potential absence would further weaken Milan’s options on the right wing, particularly with Belgian international Alexis Saelemaekers already ruled out following ankle surgery. Saelemaekers is expected to miss several months as he recovers from the injury.
Chukwueze’s condition is therefore a major concern for the Italian side as they continue their European and domestic campaigns. The club will await the outcome of his medical assessment before determining the next steps in his treatment and rehabilitation.
The injury also comes at an important stage of the season for the Super Eagles forward, who will be hoping to recover quickly and return to regular action for his club.
