No fewer than 2,000 young people in Cross River State are set to undergo specialised training designed to prepare them for employment and business opportunities in the oil and gas industry.
The state government said the programme is part of efforts to expand youth development and provide participants with practical skills that can be applied within the energy sector.
The training covers several areas connected to the industry, including engineering-related services, logistics, occupational safety, environmental management, procurement, equipment maintenance and data services.
The initiative was formally unveiled by Governor Bassey Otu, who was represented at the event by the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Elvert Ayambem.
The government said participants would receive professional qualifications through certificate and diploma courses, with the aim of improving their competitiveness in the labour market.
Officials encouraged the beneficiaries to make effective use of the opportunity and translate the skills acquired into employment, entrepreneurship and other productive ventures.
