Governor Alex Otti has given reasons for backing President Bola Tinubu’s return bid ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Otti explained that his position was influenced by the need for continuity and effective cooperation between the Federal Government and the states. He said political differences should not prevent governments from working together to address issues affecting Nigerians.
The governor also pointed out that his own political ambition is focused on retaining his position as Abia governor, rather than seeking the presidency. According to him, supporting Tinubu’s second-term bid does not prevent him from pursuing his own political interests at the state level.
Otti further maintained that his stance should not be viewed as a departure from the Labour Party, saying members of the party remain free to pursue their political aspirations as the 2027 elections approach.
He stressed that Nigerians would ultimately determine who occupies the presidency after the election, while political leaders should concentrate on delivering good governance and improving the lives of citizens.
