Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has responded to her defeat against reality TV star Phyna in a celebrity boxing contest held in Lagos.
Phyna secured victory in the fourth and final round of the bout after knocking the actress to the canvas and ending the contest. The fight was part of Balmoral Promotions’ “Chaos in the Ring” event and was the first female celebrity boxing bout staged under the series.
Reacting to the outcome, Blessing said she still considers herself a champion regardless of the result. She also suggested that viewers who watched the contest would understand her position on what happened in the ring.
The actress revealed that she had only two days of training before stepping into the ring and thanked her coach for helping her prepare for the unusual challenge.
Blessing has also indicated that she is returning her attention to acting, saying boxing is not her profession. Meanwhile, Phyna walked away with ₦50 million, a championship belt and a new car after the victory.
