Venerable Osazee Egbenusi has highlighted the importance of health service administrators in maintaining efficient operations and quality service delivery across Nigeria’s healthcare institutions.
Egbenusi spoke during a lecture organised by the Institute of Health Service Administrators of Nigeria, University of Benin Teaching Hospital chapter.
He explained that while doctors and nurses provide direct medical care, administrators coordinate several behind-the-scenes processes that enable healthcare facilities to function effectively.
According to him, areas such as documentation, patient referrals, procurement and institutional coordination require competent administrative leadership to prevent delays and improve service delivery.
He urged professionals in the field to uphold integrity, develop their skills and embrace technological changes, noting that effective administration ultimately contributes to better outcomes for patients.
