Leading companies quoted on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) have been shortlisted for the 2026 PEARL Awards as organisers prepare to recognise outstanding corporate performance across the country’s capital market.

The nominees cut across several sectors, including banking, telecommunications, agriculture, breweries and energy. Among the companies in contention are Zenith Bank, Wema Bank, Guaranty Trust Holding Company, MTN Nigeria, Seplat Energy, Aradel Holdings, Nigerian Breweries, BUA Foods and Okomu Oil Palm.

The awards will feature different categories designed to assess companies’ financial strength, profitability, market performance and corporate governance. Other areas of recognition include stockbroking services, issuing-house operations and contributions to the development of Nigeria’s capital market.

According to PEARL Awards Nigeria President and Chief Executive Officer, Tayo Orekoya, the selection process relies on measurable financial and market indicators rather than corporate influence or popularity.

The assessment framework considers 10 performance indicators, including revenue growth, returns on equity and assets, share price appreciation, dividend yield, profit margins and earnings performance. Information is obtained from published company reports and official records of the Nigerian Exchange before undergoing further review and verification.

Established in 1995, the PEARL Awards has spent more than three decades recognising companies that demonstrate strong business performance and contribute to the growth of Nigeria’s capital market.

The 2026 ceremony is scheduled for November 29 at The Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, under the theme, “Celebrating Excellence, Inspiring the Future.” Winners in the competitive categories, including the prestigious PEARL of the Nigerian Stock Market award, will be announced at the event.
