Exercise your democratic right responsibly, peacefully and lawfully.
Dear Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji,
It is from a place of love and concern that I write in response to your allegations against the current Member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha, whom you accused of selling the two trailer loads of rice reportedly provided by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to cushion the effects of the removal of the petroleum subsidy.
First and foremost, I find it difficult to believe that someone of your standing in society would resort to what I consider cheap political propaganda, especially when the matter in question is one I can personally speak about based on my experience.
Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha, like other members of the House of Representatives who received the palliative rice, distributed it across the wards in the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency.
At the time of the distribution, I was the councillor representing Amakama Ward. I was among the party leaders and other people of Amakama who welcomed Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha to our ward when the rice was delivered.
In addition to the 200 bags of rice allocated to Amakama Ward, he also provided financial support of ₦500,000 to the ward. I witnessed these events firsthand, and I believe it is important to set the record straight rather than allow allegations to go unchallenged.
Another witness to this event is Hon. Chidi Nwosu, an APC chieftain in Amakama Ward, who also accompanied Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha during the rice distribution. Hon. Nwosu further pledged ₦100,000 in support of the ward.
Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, if you insist that Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha sold the rice to businessmen from Anambra State, I respectfully challenge you to provide credible evidence to substantiate that allegation. If you have evidence identifying the businessmen involved, kindly make it public rather than relying on accusations.
As someone who was directly involved in the distribution in Amakama Ward, I cannot remain silent while an event I personally witnessed is being portrayed differently.
Let us be guided by facts, evidence, and firsthand accounts rather than political sentiment. The people of Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency deserve responsible representation and constructive political engagement, not unnecessary controversy.
Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha has important responsibilities to attend to and should not be distracted by allegations that, in my view, are unsupported by the evidence presented so far.
Long live the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency!
Long live Amakama Ward!
Long live UDO JI AGU️
